Transforming Family Traditions Onto the Grill

News, Events & Happenings

By Savannah Gardner and her father, Daron, Panama City, Florida

As far back as I can remember, Sunday mornings started with the smell of breakfast cooking on the stove and a big morning meal enjoyed with my family. From savory buttermilk pancakes to juicy pieces of pork sausage, this has been a family tradition my entire life.

This summer, this family tradition of a big Sunday morning breakfast has been revamped and reinvigorated with a smoky and delicious transition to the grill.

My father, Daron, is your standard home grill master. He enjoys nothing more than time outdoors grilling baby back ribs, swamp chicken and more. Now, he’s added a new occasion to the menu. This summer, we made smoky delicious sausage and fluffy buttermilk pancakes outside and upgraded our traditional breakfast.

There is no better way to start a morning than grilling breakfast out in the open air with the family gathered around. If you are looking for inspiration to try something new, here are just a few reasons why you should consider #grillingbreakfast!

  • You can cook the whole meal at once with a large cooking area.
  • You can easily control the temperature for any and all breakfast items.
  • Cooking outside on a grill is more fun than indoors in a kitchen.
  • Grilling breakfast adds a smoky flavor to all your dishes.
  • Grilling at high temperatures makes for extra juicy sausage compared to cooking on a stove.
  • When grilling pancakes, the batter cooks all the way through and creates a golden brown color on each side with a stable temperature.

Adding grilling to this family tradition has made Sunday morning breakfast more fun and more delicious. There is nothing like having breakfast that has been grilled to perfection around those you love. Grilling breakfast is easy and delicious. Try it, it might even become a new tradition for you too.
